Vietnam Prepares for the 2026 Graduation Examination Amid Challenges

Post by : Shakul

Vietnam is actively gearing up for the 2026 High School Graduation Examination, a pivotal event in the academic calendar. This year introduces several challenges, notably the nationwide shift to a two-tier local government model, an uptick in candidates in urban areas, and heightened concerns regarding the potential misuse of advanced cheating technology. Authorities nationwide are committed to conducting the exam safely and fairly, adhering strictly to national regulations.

In the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai, local officials are adapting to significant changes in administrative structures post-restructuring. Nearly 8,000 students are anticipated to participate across 24 testing centers and 352 examination rooms. Given the province's challenging terrain, long travel distances, and the potential for adverse weather during the exam, proactive plans are in place to handle emergencies and ensure the smooth operation of the exam process.

To overcome coordination issues arising from the elimination of district-level exam committees, Lao Cai has formed inter-communal support groups tasked with managing unforeseen events such as power outages and severe weather conditions. Provincial leaders have stressed that ensuring security and accuracy at every exam stage is paramount.

In contrast, Vietnam's major cities, particularly Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, are grappling with a surging number of candidates. Hanoi is set to host over 129,000 students, necessitating 222 examination centers and nearly 6,000 examination rooms. Approximately 20,000 teachers, administrators, and support staff have been enlisted to facilitate the exam's organization and oversight.

The situation is even more pressing in Ho Chi Minh City, where about 142,000 students are expected to take part in the exam—an increase from prior years. The city has arranged 156 testing centers and over 3,800 rooms, deploying more than 25,000 personnel to ensure effective management. Education officials have dedicated months to scrutinizing facilities, conducting simulations, and boosting operational readiness for the unprecedented number of candidates.

A central focus this year is combating cheating enabled by advanced technology. Education departments are collaborating with law enforcement to train exam supervisors on detecting concealed communication devices and other tech that could disrupt the integrity of the exam. Enhanced surveillance and security measures will safeguard centers viewed as high-risk.

In central Vietnam, Hue has fortified its examination process security measures. Authorities have scrutinized exam paper printing facilities, surveillance systems, grading centers, and communication networks while establishing contingency plans for power, water supply, and internet connectivity. Across the country, local governments share a unified goal: ensuring the 2026 High School Graduation Examination runs smoothly, securely, and transparently, allowing students to navigate this vital milestone successfully.
