UAE Minister Promotes Stronger Trade Ties with US Leaders

Post by :

Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, the UAE Minister of Foreign Trade, recently attended important business meetings in New York. He participated ian a roundtable with the UAE-US Business Council and another session hosted by the US Chamber of Commerce. At both meetings, he spoke with top US business leaders and policymakers about ways to grow trade and investment between the UAE and the United States.

During his meetings, Dr. Al Zeyoudi highlighted that the economic relationship between the UAE and the US is strong and growing. He said there is huge potential to strengthen this partnership through trade, investment, and collaboration in areas that benefit both countries. He noted that the United States is now the UAE’s sixth-largest trading partner in the world. In 2024, trade in non-oil products between the two countries reached US$38 billion, showing a growth of 44.5% over the past five years. This trend has continued into 2025, with the first six months already seeing US$19.3 billion in bilateral trade.

“The UAE and the US are long-term partners, united by a focus on innovation, development, and economic growth,” Dr. Al Zeyoudi said. “We have many opportunities to work together, create new jobs, and develop technologies that can benefit the global economy. We want to partner with the United States to lead innovation, support sustainable growth, and drive prosperity worldwide.”

At the UAE-US Business Council meeting, he shared examples of successful collaborations between the UAE and US companies. One example is a major $25 billion joint venture in the clean energy sector between ADQ, a UAE investment group, and Energy Capital Partners in the US. This partnership is focused on investing in US energy production.

Another example is Emirates Global Aluminium, which has invested $4 billion to build the first new aluminium smelter in the US in 45 years. This project will create thousands of American jobs and support the production of semiconductors and electric vehicles, which are key industries for future technology.

During the US Chamber of Commerce session, Dr. Al Zeyoudi emphasized the growth potential of UAE-US economic ties. He encouraged closer collaboration between companies and policymakers in both countries, highlighting that stronger ties can lead to innovation, new industries, and shared prosperity.

Officials from the US public sector were also present, showing that both sides are committed to expanding cooperation. The discussions took place during the United Nations General Assembly in New York, providing a platform for high-level international dialogue.

The meetings laid the foundation for continued collaboration in trade, investment, clean energy, technology, and other strategic sectors. Both the UAE and US aim to deepen their economic partnership, create jobs, drive sustainable growth, and advance technologies that will shape the global economy in the years ahead.

This series of engagements reflects the UAE’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its global economic relationships while supporting the growth of emerging industries. The UAE continues to be a major hub for international business, attracting global investment and working closely with partners like the United States to promote innovation, economic stability, and sustainable development.
