Abu Dhabi — Representing President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, inaugurated the third ordinary session of the 18th legislative chapter of the Federal National Council (FNC) today. This event holds significance in the UAE’s political landscape, marking the nation's ongoing progress in governance and development.

Among the attendees were His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, along with various Crown Princes, Deputy Rulers, senior officials, dignitaries, and members of the diplomatic corps, emphasizing the session's importance.

The session commenced with the recitation of Federal Decree No. (151) of 2025, issued by the President, which formally opened the new session. The environment was formal and focused, establishing a proactive tone for the upcoming year, anticipated to be one of continued national growth.

FNC Speaker His Excellency Saqr Ghobash provided an in-depth opening address, highlighting that 2025 has been a remarkable year for the UAE. He pointed out the nation's enhanced global standing in areas such as competitiveness, economic stability, security, innovation, renewable energy, artificial intelligence, and quality of life. Ghobash noted that the UAE's improved ranking in global soft power illustrates its expanding international reach.

He also announced the designation of 2025 as the Year of Community and 2026 as the Year of the Family—two themes that promote the UAE’s commitment to social values, unity, and national duty. The federal budget for 2026, the largest ever approved, demonstrates robust economic confidence and a commitment to sustained development.

Ghobash reiterated the UAE’s firm stance on humanitarian and regional issues, emphasizing support for the Palestinian people and efforts to foster dialogue, coexistence, and peace.

As the session commences, the FNC is set to fulfill its constitutional role, aligned with the leadership’s vision for a future-oriented nation.
