Trump Hopes for Iran-Israel Peace Deal Amid Airstrikes

Iran has told Qatar and Oman that it is not ready to talk about a ceasefire with Israel. Iran said it will only discuss peace once it finishes responding to Israeli attacks. An official who knows about the talks said Iran made it very clear—it will not talk about peace while it is being attacked.

Recently, Israel surprised Iran with a strong military attack. The strike killed top Iranian military leaders and damaged important nuclear sites. After this, Iran warned that it will take serious revenge, saying it will "open the gates of hell" in response.

There were some reports saying that Iran asked Qatar and Oman to help restart talks with the United States and return to nuclear discussions. But the same official said those reports are not true.

Even though the situation is tense, former US President Donald Trump still hopes for peace between Iran and Israel. Talking to reporters on Sunday, he said, “I hope there’s going to be a deal. Sometimes they have to fight it out, but we’ll see what happens.”

On the same day, both Iran and Israel carried out new attacks. These strikes hurt and killed many civilians. Both countries warned the other side’s people to stay safe and take shelter.

Trump also wrote a message on his social media platform, Truth Social. He said the US will try to stop the war by using trade, just like he claimed to do with India and Pakistan. “Iran and Israel should make a deal, and will make a deal,” Trump wrote. “Just like I got India and Pakistan to make—using trade with the US to bring peace and smart decisions.”

In another report, Trump also stopped an Israeli plan to kill Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. He told Iran not to attack the United States, saying America had nothing to do with the Israeli strikes. But he warned that if Iran attacks the US, the American military would respond with more power than ever seen before.
