Arne Slot Assures Salah's Possible Return Amid Injury Concerns

Post by : Shweta

According to Liverpool's manager, Arne Slot, Mohamed Salah might still have the chance to make a heartfelt comeback for the club before the season concludes, despite a recent injury scare. Slot has confirmed that the injury sustained by the Egyptian star is minor and expressed optimism that Salah will play again prior to his departure from Anfield this summer.

During Liverpool's latest 3-1 Premier League victory against Crystal Palace, Salah had to leave the pitch due to what appeared to be a hamstring issue. The 33-year-old was applauded off by the Anfield crowd, sparking worries that this might have been his last game for the club.

Fortunately, Liverpool later announced that Salah's condition is merely a "minor muscle injury," alleviating fears of an extended absence. Ahead of the upcoming match against Manchester United, Slot noted that Salah is making good progress and is expected to return late in the season, although he will be absent for the match at Old Trafford this weekend.

Slot commended Salah's resilience in recovering and mentioned that the forward typically rebounds from injuries quicker than anticipated due to his professionalism and high fitness levels. The positive medical update is viewed as a significant relief for both the club and its fans.

Moreover, the Liverpool manager emphasized that Salah deserves a fitting farewell before leaving, following his announcement in March that he will exit the club at the conclusion of the 2025-26 season, marking an incredible nine-year tenure at Anfield.

Salah has etched his name into Liverpool's history as one of its finest players since his arrival in 2017. He has been instrumental in Liverpool's triumphs, contributing to their Premier League, UEFA Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, among other prestigious trophies.

The Egyptian international has set numerous records throughout his career with Liverpool and ranks among the club’s all-time leading goal scorers, making him one of the most distinguished African footballers in Premier League history.

This season has been more challenging for Salah compared to his previous ones, with reports indicating he has netted only seven goals in the Premier League, contrasting sharply with his prolific scoring last year. This season also witnessed brief public discord between Salah and Slot, particularly after the player was momentarily removed from the starting lineup.

Despite these challenges, Liverpool fans are eager to bid Salah a proper farewell before his exit. The recent injury scare heightened fears that he might not get the chance for one final appearance at Anfield, especially given his emotional exit against Crystal Palace.

With several crucial matches on the horizon as they aim for UEFA Champions League qualification for next season, Salah is now eyeing a return for one of the club’s concluding league matches, which could potentially include Liverpool's last home game against Brentford at Anfield.

Slot mentioned that the club remains hopeful Salah will recover in time to receive the send-off that the supporters feel he richly deserves after nearly a decade marked by success in a Liverpool jersey.
