Fatal Brawl After Cricket Match in Bengaluru

Post by : Mina Rahman

A dispute that erupted late at night after a local cricket match in Bengaluru turned tragic, resulting in the death of 33-year-old Prashanth, following a drunken confrontation, police reported.

The incident involved Prashanth (33) and Roshan Hegde (37), who argued vocally after participating in a cricket tournament at a playground located in Electronics City. According to police, both men had been consuming beer in an open area near a mall when a trivial misunderstanding ignited the confrontation.

What began as a disagreement over a lighter quickly escalated into physical altercation. The two men reportedly exchanged insults and pushed each other before using beer bottles as weapons. During the altercation, Hegde sustained a cut on his tongue.

Following the altercation, Hegde attempted to flee in his Tata Safari SUV, with Prashanth pursuing and standing on the front footrest as the vehicle moved. Authorities allege that Hegde then accelerated the SUV with malicious intent.

Shortly after, Hegde intentionally crashed into a roadside tree and subsequently into a boundary wall. The resultant collision inflicted fatal head and chest injuries on Prashanth, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The sequence of events was captured by the SUV’s dashboard camera, which proved instrumental in identifying the accused. Based on the footage, a murder case has been filed under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.

Hegde, employed in IT, was apprehended within an hour of the incident. The SUV used in the crime has been confiscated, and further inquiries are ongoing.
