The second week of May is bringing a fresh lineup of films and web series for OTT viewers across India. From high-energy action dramas to intense crime thrillers and emotional stories, several much-awaited titles are arriving on streaming platforms between May 12 and May 17. Big stars like Ranveer Singh, Saif Ali Khan and Randeep Hooda are leading some of the biggest releases of the week. These projects are expected to attract large audiences as many viewers now prefer enjoying movies and series from the comfort of their homes.
One of the most talked-about releases this week is Dhurandhar: The Revenge, also known as “Dhurandhar 2.” The action-packed spy thriller stars Ranveer Singh in the lead role and is directed by Aditya Dhar. The film had a successful run in theatres and is now preparing for its OTT debut on JioHotstar on May 15.
The story of “Dhurandhar: The Revenge” follows a secret Indian agent involved in dangerous undercover missions connected to terrorism and organized crime. The film is filled with large-scale action scenes, emotional moments and patriotic themes. Along with Ranveer Singh, the movie also features R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt and Sara Arjun in important roles. Fans of spy thrillers are eagerly waiting for its streaming release after the film’s huge popularity in theatres.
Another major release arriving this week is Kartavya. The crime drama stars Saif Ali Khan as a police officer struggling between his professional responsibilities and his family life. The film is produced by Gauri Khan under the banner of Red Chillies Entertainment. Directed by Pulkit, the movie will begin streaming on Netflix from May 15.
The trailer of “Kartavya” has already created excitement among audiences because of its emotional storyline and serious tone. Saif Ali Khan plays a devoted police officer who also follows Lord Mahadev. The character is shown dealing with difficult moral decisions while trying to protect his loved ones. Actress Rasika Dugal plays an important role in the film along with veteran actor Sanjay Mishra. Many viewers believe the film could become one of the strongest crime dramas of the year.
Crime-thriller fans are also waiting for Inspector Avinash Season 2, which is returning after a long gap. The series stars Randeep Hooda as police officer Avinash Mishra, who fights dangerous criminals and gangsters in Uttar Pradesh. Inspired by real-life events from the 1990s, the show became popular because of its gritty storytelling and intense action scenes. The new season will stream on JioHotstar from May 15.
According to reports, the second season will show Avinash facing bigger threats and more complicated situations than before. The trailer suggests that the character will be pushed to his limits while dealing with crime, politics and corruption. The series also stars Urvashi Rautela, Amit Sial and Shalin Bhanot. Fans are expecting strong performances and high-voltage action sequences throughout the season.
Apart from these Hindi releases, Tamil drama series “Exam” is also arriving on Prime Video this week. The show focuses on the pressure and emotional struggles faced by students preparing for competitive exams. Written and directed by National Award-winning filmmaker A. Sarkunam, the series aims to present the mental stress and social expectations connected with education and success.
The makers believe the series will connect strongly with young viewers and parents because competitive exams remain one of the biggest pressures for students in India today.
Netflix is also releasing a true-crime documentary titled “The Crash.” The documentary is based on a shocking real-life incident from Ohio in 2022 involving a teenage girl who intentionally crashed her car into a building at very high speed, leading to the deaths of two young boys.
The case received major international attention and the documentary explores the events, investigation and court proceedings connected to the tragedy. Viewers interested in crime documentaries are expected to follow the release closely.
The growing popularity of OTT platforms has completely changed how audiences consume entertainment in India and around the world. Instead of waiting for television premieres or visiting cinemas, viewers can now watch films and web series instantly on streaming apps. Platforms like Netflix, Prime Video and JioHotstar continue investing heavily in original content to attract subscribers.
The demand for crime thrillers, action dramas and real-life stories has increased rapidly over the last few years. As competition between streaming platforms becomes stronger, viewers are getting access to bigger productions and more diverse storytelling.
This week’s OTT lineup offers a wide variety of genres including action, crime, thriller, emotional drama and documentary storytelling. Whether viewers enjoy intense police dramas, spy thrillers or emotional social stories, there are multiple options available for different tastes.
