Post by : Shakul

As part of his state visit to China, President To Lam marked the commencement of the Vietnam-China Border People's Festival 2026 in Guangxi's Nanning city. This vibrant festival gathered leaders, officials, and residents from both nations to celebrate enduring friendship and collaboration.

Organized by friendship organizations with backing from the Guangxi government, this festival aims to reinforce people-to-people connections. It embodies a vision for a robust social foundation that promotes long-term cooperation and shared growth between Vietnam and China as they advance into the 21st century.

During the opening ceremony, Chinese leader Tran Cuong accentuated the rich historical ties connecting the two countries, noting how border communities have coexisted peacefully and supported one another through ages. He emphasized the pivotal role of Guangxi, the sole Chinese region sharing its borders with Vietnam by land and sea, in nurturing and expanding these ties through local collaborations and mutual aid efforts.

In his speech, President To Lam highlighted the historical importance of Guangxi as a site rich with shared memories of revolutionary endeavors. He referred to significant locations linked to Ho Chi Minh, where Vietnamese revolutionaries were sheltered and educated with aid from Chinese citizens, symbolizing the solid unity and mutual sacrifices that underpin Vietnam-China relations.

The Vietnamese leader conveyed heartfelt appreciation to China for maintaining historical sites related to Vietnam’s revolutionary heritage. He noted that over the decades, particularly since the establishment of formal diplomatic relations in 1950, the connection between the two nations has matured into a robust strategic partnership grounded in friendship, stability, and future-oriented collaboration.

Emphasizing the necessity for future cooperation, To Lam pointed to the significance of youth engagement and border community involvement in reinforcing bilateral ties. He advocated for increased cultural and educational exchanges, alongside driving innovations in science, technology, and digital transformation. He urged both nations to transcend traditional methods of cooperation and seek novel opportunities in smart infrastructure and cultural sectors.

Wrapping up the event was a robust message of unity and shared goals, reaffirming both nations’ dedication to building a “community with a shared future.” Leaders expressed optimism that continued camaraderie, rooted in longstanding friendship and energized by contemporary initiatives, will pave the way for peace, stability, and sustainable development in the region.
