During his state visit to China, To Lam explored the Central University Campus historical site in Nanning, Guangxi, alongside his wife and a distinguished Vietnamese delegation. Leaders from Guangxi University provided a warm welcome and guidance throughout the visit.
Exploring a photo exhibition at the venue, he delved into the institution’s history, recognized as Nanning Yucai School. This site holds significant historical importance as a testament to the enduring relationship between Vietnam and China, symbolizing years of collaboration and shared challenges.
In remarks delivered at the location, To Lam conveyed heartfelt sentiments, asserting that this venue embodies the strong connection of “comrades and brothers” between the nations. He reflected on the memories from the 1950s, during Vietnam's national liberation efforts, when China provided vital support.
He recognized the contributions of the Chinese Party, State, and people in assisting Vietnam through arduous times by offering resources for building schools and ensuring student safety, thereby enhancing education. He also recounted meaningful narratives of teachers and students that became integral to the historical ties between the two nations.
To Lam reiterated Vietnam's enduring gratitude for China’s support during past adversities and ongoing development, expressing thanks to Guangxi officials for safeguarding historical sites linked to President Ho Chi Minh, which serve as vital symbols of friendship.
He also remembered President Ho Chi Minh's address to students during his visit in 1957, emphasizing the significance of gratitude, commitment to learning, discipline, and national duty—values that continue to resonate with future generations.
To Lam expressed optimism for continued collaboration between educational institutions in Guangxi and Vietnamese universities, aiming to foster cultural and knowledge exchanges. Such initiatives would cultivate skilled individuals and deepen the ongoing bilateral relationship.
Founded in 1951 as a training hub for Vietnamese leaders during the resistance, the Central Campus has educated about 7,000 individuals, many emerging as prominent leaders, scientists, and cultural luminaries. Today, it stands as a living tribute to the lasting friendship and partnership between Vietnam and China.
