In a pivotal move for the automotive sector, Thailand's Board of Investment (BOI) is set to host SUBCON Thailand 2026, the region's premier industrial parts exhibition, from May 13 to May 16, 2026, at the BITEC Bangna Exhibition and Convention Centre in Bangkok. Collaborating with the Thai Subcontracting Promotion Association and Informa Markets, the event seeks to solidify Thailand's role in global industrial supply chains and facilitate significant opportunities for both local manufacturers and overseas buyers.
Celebrating its 20th iteration, the exhibition adopts the theme “Sourcing Innovation Shaping Tomorrow.” It promises to be a cornerstone for industrial business interactions in Southeast Asia. The BOI asserts that this exhibition is crucial for linking Thai industries with leading global players and fostering enduring partnerships across key sectors such as automotive, electronics, robotics, and advanced manufacturing.
Mr. Narut Teodsathirasak, Secretary-General of the BOI, highlighted that the event would see participation from 239 manufacturers worldwide, including 154 domestic firms. The exhibition is strategically designed to enhance the capabilities of Thai businesses and fortify industrial supply chains throughout the ASEAN region, as Thailand positions itself as the industrial sourcing hub.
Attendance is expected from over 90 buyers from 14 countries, including Japan, South Korea, and the UK, with ambitions for more than 9,000 business matching sessions. Officials believe these discussions could yield automotive parts transactions exceeding 20 billion baht, marking it as one of the significant industrial trade opportunities this year.
The Innovation Showcase will be a focal point at SUBCON Thailand 2026, featuring advanced manufacturing technologies and eco-friendly industrial solutions. Emphasizing Smart and Green Technology, the showcase will demonstrate the latest in energy management systems, automation, smart manufacturing, and digital advancements.
Among the standout innovations is the Smart Energy Management Platform from PTT Digital, which integrates IoT, AI, and energy analytics for enhanced efficiency and reduced emissions. The National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) will also showcase sensor technologies that accurately gather industrial data to support automated processes.
Moreover, the BOI plans to conduct 17 specialized seminars geared towards Thai entrepreneurs, covering topics like investment opportunities and the latest policies for accessing digital economy funding. These sessions are designed to equip companies for competition in the dynamic global manufacturing landscape.
A significant feature of the event will be the BOI Symposium 2026, themed “Thailand Driving Toward Smart and Green Mobility.” This symposium will delve into the future direction of Thailand's automotive sector, focusing on electric vehicles and sustainable transport. It will feature a keynote by Mr. Narut Teodsathirasak on smart mobility policies and a session from Mr. Zhang Yongwei of China EV100 discussing global EV development trends.
Industry representatives from notable organizations such as EVAT, BYD, and Bosch will engage in panel discussions on technological innovation and supply chain advancements, showcasing Thailand's pivotal role in the automotive market. The BOI is optimistic that SUBCON Thailand 2026 will facilitate connections between Thai manufacturers and international enterprises, ensuring their integration into the future global supply chain.
