Thailand Enhances Internet Access for Remote Education

Post by : Shakul

The Ministry of Education in Thailand is set to boost internet connectivity and provide computer resources to remote schools in Chiang Rai Province to combat educational disparities in these mountainous areas.

Deputy Minister of Education, Mr. Akranan Kankittinant, recently visited Ban Phalang School along with senior officials to gain insights into the obstacles faced by smaller educational institutions situated in isolated locales. During this visit, interactions with ethnic minority students took place, along with participation in Thai language and mathematics teaching sessions.

One significant challenge noted by ministry officials was the lack of fundamental infrastructure in these highland schools, particularly regarding access to clean water through local mountain water supply systems. Authorities have been urged to expedite improvements in water supply to ensure students consistently have access to clean drinking water.

The visit also revealed technological challenges, highlighting the limited resources in rural schools where stable internet connections and sufficient computer equipment are often absent, hindering students' modern educational experiences and digital learning engagements.

Mr. Akranan stated that plans are underway within the Ministry of Education to hasten the installation of internet services and computer support at these remote schools. The aim is to guarantee that children residing in mountainous regions have equal educational prospects as their urban counterparts.

Officials are optimistic that enhancing digital access in remote schools will facilitate better learning experiences, enabling access to online educational materials and narrowing the educational divide between rural and urban areas.

The ministry has reiterated that ensuring equal educational access is a top priority and that reinforcing infrastructure at remote schools is crucial to improve the quality of life and future possibilities for children throughout Thailand.
