Thai Mixed Doubles Triumph at the 2026 India Open

Post by : Mina Rahman

The mixed doubles team from Thailand, Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Supissara Paewsampran, exhibited extraordinary resilience and skill, winning their eighth title at the Yonex-Sunrise India Open in 2026. The final, held on January 18 in India, featured a nail-biting showdown against Denmark's Mathias Christiansen and Alexandra Boje, culminating in a three-set thriller with scores of 16–21, 25–23, and 21–18.

Ranked fourth globally and seeded third, Dechapol and Supissara advanced to the final after a significant semi-final victory against the top-ranked Chinese pair, Feng Yanzhe and Huang Dongping. Their Danish opponents, seeded 12th, had earlier upset the world number two team, Jiang Zhen Bang and Wei Ya Xin, to earn their final spot.

The championship match was intensely competitive. The Thai pair initially led at 19–16 in the first game; however, the Danish duo rallied to win 21–16. Undeterred, Dechapol and Supissara saved four match points in the second game, securing a thrilling 25–23 victory in a dramatic deuce to level the match.

The decisive game saw fierce exchanges, but the Thai duo capitalized on crucial moments, eventually winning with a score of 21–18. This not only marks their first triumph of the year but also enhances their impressive record to eight championships on the BWF World Tour, solidifying their status as one of the leading mixed doubles teams globally.

With this victory, Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Supissara Paewsampran have laid down a strong marker for the remainder of 2026, epitomizing the determination and grit characteristic of true champions.
