Quang Ninh City's Development Plan Gains Unprecedented Support

Post by : Shakul

The initiative to establish Quang Ninh City in Vietnam has met with remarkable support from residents throughout the province, as detailed in a report from the Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee.

Authorities noted that the public consultation process aligned with national plans for administrative restructuring and development objectives endorsed by Vietnam’s leadership earlier this year. The proposal aims to form Quang Ninh City based on the existing administrative borders of Quang Ninh province.

Local governments at the commune, ward, and special zone levels conducted extensive public consultation campaigns, which included online publication of project documents and public displays at offices, community centers, and gathering spots. Thousands of public opinion teams were set up to directly gather feedback from residents.

Officials revealed that the province organized 2,563 consultation teams comprising over 10,000 members to ensure a transparent and inclusive process. This structure was intended to facilitate citizen participation in the proposed city formation discussions.

According to the final results, 385,597 households engaged in the consultation, representing an impressive 99.44 percent of the total households in the province. Among the valid responses, 385,440 households, or 99.96 percent, voiced their support for the proposal.

Notably, regions such as Bai Chay, Ha Long, Tuan Chau, and Mong Cai achieved a full 100 percent approval rate. While Ky Thuong commune showed the lowest support at 99.49 percent, it still reflected exceedingly high approval.

A mere 154 households opposed the proposal, making up just 0.04 percent of valid responses. Provincial officials affirmed that these consultation outcomes signal strong public trust and high expectations for Quang Ninh's future urban development and growth.

Furthermore, the substantial backing illustrates the community’s confidence in the province’s long-term economic prospects and modernization initiatives, as Quang Ninh strives to become a pivotal urban hub in Vietnam.
