On Monday, President Lee Jae Myung of South Korea and President Prabowo Subianto of Indonesia had a phone call where they decided to make their partnership even stronger. This was their first conversation since President Lee officially started his job earlier this month.
The two leaders spoke about growing the "Special Strategic Partnership" that was first set up in 2017. They agreed to work together more closely in several important areas. These include trade, new technology, the defense and arms industry, and future industries that focus on digital growth and helping the environment.
Kang Yu-jung, a spokesperson from the South Korean president’s office, shared in a written update that both leaders want to keep improving their countries’ ties. They plan to stay in regular contact and support peace and stability in the region.
Both leaders also promised to support each other and help make the relationship between their countries even stronger in the future.
