Sheikh Khalid bin Zayed Al Nahyan presided over the inaugural 2026 meeting of the Abu Dhabi Excellence Award for People of Determination Inclusion, known as Damj. The session focused on evaluating the criteria established by the jury committee to assess inclusion impact across various institutions.

Attendees included prominent officials such as Shamis Ali Al Dhaheri, Sana Mohammed Suhail, and Ahmed Tamim Al Kuttab, who participated in discussions regarding the award's assessment metrics and their institutional implications.

The meeting aimed to ensure evaluations were conducted with fairness and transparency. The board underscored the significance of the award in promoting institutional changes that bolster support for People of Determination, enhancing their overall quality of life.

Final evaluations presented by the jury committee indicated a growing dedication among organizations to foster inclusive practices. These initiatives are geared towards empowering individuals and facilitating active societal involvement.

Sheikh Khalid reaffirmed that promoting inclusion is a fundamental focus within UAE leadership's vision, emphasizing Abu Dhabi's commitment to creating an environment of equal opportunity and community engagement.

The Damj Award serves as a strategic vehicle for encouraging enduring inclusion through established standards and fostering continual advancements in organizational practices.

Discussions also touched on the significance of measuring actual impacts, with an emphasis on achieving sustainable and meaningful outcomes from inclusion initiatives. The award is aligned with the UAE’s Year of Family, highlighting inclusion's role in nurturing strong and stable families.

Officials also spoke about expanding involvement from the public, private, and third sectors to increase awareness of the award and its objectives.

The board recognized the impressive participation and innovation demonstrated by institutions, asserting that the award has sparked healthy competition and facilitated the exchange of best practices.

Winners of the Damj Award 2026 will be revealed later this year at a formal ceremony.
