Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan engaged in discussions regarding pivotal infrastructure, transport, and logistics endeavors during meetings with various delegations from Abu Dhabi Airports, AD Ports Group, and Etihad Rail at Al Ain.
In his session with Abu Dhabi Airports, where CEO Ahmed Juma Al Shamisi led the delegation, Sheikh Hazza explored development initiatives and the activation strategies for the free zone at Al Ain International Airport. The talks emphasized enhancing integrated logistics solutions and bolstering connectivity between air and rail transport, positioning the airport as a central logistics and transport hub.
The meeting also addressed plans for strategic expansion to facilitate passenger movement and upgrade airport services, aligning with the optimistic economic and tourism growth in the Al Ain Region.
During a different encounter, Sheikh Hazza met with a team from AD Ports Group, under the leadership of Managing Director Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, who provided updates on their ongoing projects as well as those of Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi in the Al Ain Region.
These initiatives aim to solidify Al Ain as a comprehensive industrial and economic center. Future developments discussed included initiatives that will foster the food, agritech, packaging, and logistics sectors—attracting investment and bolstering regional competitiveness.
In a subsequent meeting, Sheikh Hazza welcomed a delegation from Etihad Rail, chaired by CEO Shadi Malak. He was updated on the progress of the UAE-Oman railway linkage project, particularly the strategic role of Al Ain along the railway corridor.
Officials noted that the railway project, managed by Hafeet Rail—a collaborative venture encompassing Etihad Rail, Oman Rail, and Mubadala Investment Company—is currently around 40 percent complete.
The briefing highlighted prospective passenger and freight rail plans in the Al Ain Region, showcasing their impact on stimulating economic growth and enhancing the UAE's transport and logistics framework.
Sheikh Hazza underscored the necessity of advancing infrastructure and transport projects through a forward-thinking strategy that reinforces Al Ain's competitiveness while fostering sustainable economic growth. He remarked that these developments will fortify the UAE's position as a worldwide hub for trade, logistics, and innovative transport solutions.
He further commended the efforts of national teams and officials dedicated to strategic projects aimed at fulfilling developmental objectives and improving life quality in the Al Ain Region.
