The Arabic Language Academy in Sharjah has announced that it is giving more time to people who want to apply for the 8th Sharjah Award for Linguistic and Lexical Studies. The new last date to send entries is now 31st July, instead of the earlier deadline.
This change was made because many researchers from different countries have shown interest in the award. They want more time to prepare their work and take part in this big international competition that celebrates studies about the Arabic language.
The total prize money for this award is $100,000. It is shared between two categories:
Linguistic Studies
Lexical (dictionary-related) Studies
In each category:
The first-place winner will get $30,000
The second-place winner will receive $20,000
This year’s award focuses on two special topics:
Textual Linguistic Studies – This topic is about studying Arabic texts in a deep way. Researchers will look at the sounds, word forms, sentence structures, and vocabulary using modern research methods.
Dictionaries of Arabic Language Sciences Terminology – This topic is about creating or improving dictionaries that explain terms used in Arabic grammar, morphology (how words change), rhetoric (the art of speaking or writing well), prosody (rhythms in poetry), phonetics (speech sounds), and philology (history of language).
By extending the deadline, the award hopes more experts in the Arabic language will take part. The goal is to support their hard work, help Arabic studies grow, and give the language a stronger place in the world.
This award is a big opportunity for anyone who loves the Arabic language and wants to make a difference through research.
