Saudi Arabia Tests Drones to Deliver Medicines in Hajj

Post by : Bianca Suleiman

Saudi Arabia has successfully tested a new way to deliver medicines using drones during the 1446 Hajj season. This was the first time the country used flying drones to carry medical supplies between hospitals and healthcare centers in the holy sites.

This new project was done with help from the Makkah Health Cluster and the National Unified Procurement Company (NUPCO). These two groups worked together to make sure hospitals and clinics got the medicines and medical tools they needed.

The main goal of this project is to make healthcare faster and better for the millions of pilgrims who come to Hajj. The drones are used to send important medical items quickly to different places in Makkah and nearby areas.

One special example of this was when Mina Emergency Hospital got a delivery of ice packs by drone. These ice packs are used to treat people who suffer from heat exhaustion or sunstroke, which are common during the hot days of Hajj. This delivery happened just as the stoning ritual began on the first day of Eid Al-Adha, showing that the system works well during busy times.

This new drone delivery plan is part of Saudi Arabia’s bigger goal to give high-quality healthcare services. It also matches the country’s Vision 2030 plan, which aims to improve public services and make the Hajj experience easier, safer, and more comfortable for everyone.

With this new step, Saudi Arabia is showing how modern technology can help people stay healthy while doing important religious activities.
