Salman Khan, 59, Attributes His Shape to Routine: Volume Training, Six-Day Workouts and Home Cooking

Bollywood star Salman Khan has once again drawn attention after sharing an Instagram image that highlights his toned physique at 59. The November 3 post rapidly circulated online, prompting admiration for his physical condition and disciplined habits. In the photo he posed shirtless, while his caption suggested that his results came without extreme sacrifice: “Kuch haasil karne ke liye kuch chhodna padta hai… Yeh bina chhode hai.”

The actor’s message implied he does not rely on drastic diets or restrictive regimens. Instead, his maintenance strategy centres on steady exercise, classic training methods and nutritious home-cooked food — what he refers to as “ghar ka khana.”

Known for a rigorous approach to fitness, Salman emphasises consistency and measured effort over quick fixes. His longtime trainer, Rakkesh R. Uddiyar, who has worked with him for over two decades, outlined key elements of the actor’s programme in an interview earlier this year.

Rakkesh described Salman’s regimen as rooted in traditional bodybuilding, employing so-called giant sets — sequences of exercises performed consecutively with minimal rest. This approach aligns with high-intensity interval methods and is designed to maximise work in limited time.

Salman typically moves between numerous chest-focused movements — including incline presses, push-ups and fly variations — without extended pauses. Transitions are brief, often around 30 seconds, and his workouts last roughly 45 to 60 minutes, conducted at high intensity and often without air conditioning.

Rather than lifting maximal loads, he favours higher-volume work with moderate weights. This emphasis on repetitions and sustained effort builds muscular endurance and strength while lowering injury risk. As his trainer notes, such high-intensity circuits increase sweat, fatigue and calorie burn efficiently.

Diet plays a central role in Salman’s routine. He avoids elaborate supplement-heavy regimens and instead prioritises straightforward, home-prepared meals planned to balance proteins, carbohydrates and healthy fats.

Salman has spoken about his preference for traditional Indian dishes that provide nutrients and are easy to digest. He steers clear of junk food, focuses on clean meals and pays attention to hydration before, during and after training sessions.

Rakkesh also explained that the actor’s food choices are adjusted according to the demands of specific film roles, but the guiding principle remains consistent: eat clean, keep meals simple. Typical staples include grilled chicken, eggs, lentils, vegetables and brown rice, with processed items minimised.

Beyond exercise and nutrition, Salman follows a disciplined daily schedule: timely sleep, early rising and training at least six days a week. His focus is on sustainable daily commitment rather than extreme, short-term pushes.

According to his trainer, Salman’s drive is intrinsic — fitness is a long-term lifestyle for him rather than a passing objective. Rakkesh described him as exceptionally dedicated, rarely missing sessions unless unavoidable.

Experts say his approach — steady workouts, wholesome home-cooked food and avoidance of extremes — is a practical model for longevity in fitness. His sustained condition at nearly 60 serves as evidence that age need not preclude high physical standards when routine and balance are prioritised.

The recent image sparked a wave of commentary online and underscored a broader point: consistent, measured effort over time produces lasting results. Salman’s post reinforced the idea that one can achieve and maintain fitness through disciplined lifestyle choices rather than radical sacrifices.

At 59, Salman Khan remains a visible example for fans across generations, demonstrating that sustained energy, a structured routine and clean eating form the backbone of enduring fitness.
