In Sarnia, law enforcement is escalating efforts in the search for Kyaw Doe, the primary suspect in a lethal shooting incident earlier this month. This tragedy involved the death of 20-year-old Dane Nisbet, who was gunned down outside a pub near Lambton College on April 10.
A Canada-wide warrant has been issued for Doe on severe charges, including second-degree murder and attempted murder, as he evades capture nearly two weeks after the crime. This ongoing pursuit has raised serious concerns among both law enforcement and the local community.
Public safety analyst and former Ontario Provincial Police commissioner Chris Lewis stated that the situation could escalate dangerously if Doe does not surrender voluntarily. He emphasized that the suspect's choices would be limited when confronted by police—either comply or risk a potentially deadly encounter.
To assist in identifying the suspect, authorities have disclosed specific details about Doe, including notable tattoos. These features are deemed crucial for his recognition by both officers and the public. Investigators are also targeting locations associated with the fugitive, including his last known residence in London.
While the shooting also injured two others, their wounds were reported as non-life-threatening. Meanwhile, three individuals have already been arrested in connection with this case, including Odum Richard Bun, charged with second-degree murder. Two additional suspects, Johnathan Osborne-Walsh and Ava-Leigh Lightheart, face various offences, including being accessories after the fact.
Legal authorities caution that aiding the fugitive could result in serious criminal charges. Defence attorney Jim Dean underscored that helping someone evade arrest could lead to substantial prison time, even if individuals were not directly involved in the initial crime.
Law enforcement and experts are urging Doe to turn himself in and obtain legal counsel, highlighting that cooperation may offer the safest route forward. The reward for information leading to his capture has been raised from $25,000 to $50,000 to encourage community support in this urgent situation.
As the investigation progresses, police remain active in following leads, urging the public to stay alert and report any information that could aid in locating the suspect. Community involvement is critical as efforts continue to resolve the case.
