Oman Embarks on RO12 Million Tourism Projects Initiative

Post by : Shakul

In a significant move to bolster its tourism landscape, Oman has entered into two usufruct agreements valued at over 12 million Omani riyals, aimed at developing hospitality projects. These initiatives include a four-star resort in Al Hamra, located in the Al Dakhiliyah Governorate, and a five-star hotel in Mirbat, Dhofar Governorate. The goal is to fortify the nation's tourism infrastructure while promoting economic diversification.

The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism signed these agreements as part of an extensive strategy to draw in private investments and expand tourism attractions throughout the Sultanate. Officials anticipate that these projects will yield job opportunities, foster local economies, and enhance the quality of accommodations available to both domestic and international guests.

The Ministry indicated that these investments support national objectives aimed at diversifying revenue sources beyond traditional sectors. Tourism has emerged as a vital component of Oman’s economic growth strategy, focusing on developing regions that harmoniously blend cultural legacy, natural allure, and contemporary hospitality solutions.

The more substantial project is the resort in Al Hamra, slated for development by Al Zahra Hospitality Services Company. Positioned over a 25,000-square-meter area, the resort's investment approximates RO 9.87 million and is conceived as an integrated destination for adventure and relaxation, emphasizing environmentally sustainable practices.

Nestled amid Oman’s spectacular mountainous backdrops, the resort is poised to draw visitors keen on outdoor ventures, nature discovery, and cultural immersion. Authorities express confidence that the development will highlight Al Hamra’s unique tourism assets, including picturesque mountain paths, valleys, and heritage sites.

Conversely, the five-star hotel in Mirbat, facilitated by Zillal Tourism Company, will be constructed over a 55,000-square-meter area with an investment of around RO 3 million. This hotel will feature 121 guest rooms, dining options, event spaces, sporting facilities, swimming pools, and other amenities to cater to a diverse range of travelers.

Tourism officials underscored Mirbat’s significance as a growing destination in the Dhofar Governorate, renowned for its coastal charm, historical landmarks, and seasonal tourism appeal. The forthcoming luxury hotel is projected to enhance the region's hospitality capacity and encourage year-round tourism.

Experts believe these ambitious projects will play a critical role in Oman’s tourism growth strategy, simultaneously offering new opportunities for local businesses and communities. By integrating high-quality accommodations with distinctive natural and cultural features, Oman is strategically establishing itself as a strong contender in the regional tourism arena.
