Narges Mohammadi Admitted to Hospital Following Severe Health Crisis

Post by : Shakul

Narges Mohammadi, a renowned Iranian human rights advocate and Nobel Peace Prize recipient, has been hospitalized as her health rapidly deteriorated while incarcerated. This alarming situation has sparked significant worry among her advocates and the international community.

Her foundation reports that Mohammadi lost consciousness twice and experienced a major cardiac incident. Medical personnel in the prison determined that her medical condition could not be appropriately addressed within the facility, necessitating her transfer to a hospital.

The health scare happened at a prison in Zanjan in northwestern Iran, where she reportedly fainted before receiving urgent medical attention.

Her legal representatives had previously mentioned concerns regarding a possible heart issue she faced in March. During a visit, they noted she seemed frail, undernourished, and needed assistance to move.

Mohammadi has been detained since December, apprehended during a visit to Mashhad. In February, she received a sentence exceeding seven years for charges pertaining to purported actions against state security.

Her family has voiced serious apprehensions about her deteriorating health, affirming that it has declined during her imprisonment. They have also alleged that she was subjected to physical abuse at the time of her arrest.

Global attention has intensified due to her health crisis. The Nobel Committee previously denounced what it characterized as severe mistreatment, urging for improved conditions for her.

To date, the Iranian government has not publicly addressed the allegations put forth by her family and supporters regarding her treatment. The situation remains delicate and continues to attract worldwide scrutiny.

Narges Mohammadi's case underscores persistent issues surrounding human rights and the health conditions of prisoners. Her current status is being monitored closely by advocates and organizations globally.
