Mithoon Revives Sandese Aate Hai in Border 2 with Star Vocalists

Post by : Mina Rahman

With the eagerly awaited launch of Border 2 nearing, the anticipation surrounding its music is palpable, particularly the revitalization of the legendary track Sandese Aate Hai. Composer Mithoon has embarked on the formidable challenge of modernizing this cherished song, enlisting an array of stellar voices: Sonu Nigam, Arijit Singh, Diljit Dosanjh, and Vishal Mishra.

This new iteration, Sandese Aate Hai 2.0, will showcase over 100 supporting vocalists and has been in the works for almost a year. A dedicated team of over 500 technicians, orchestral musicians, and sound experts collaborated to craft a deeply layered and emotionally impactful rendition. The lead singers have invested the past six months at Yash Raj Studios perfecting vocal harmonies and orchestral nuances.

The producers have reportedly allocated around ₹10 crore to secure the rights to this song, aiming to uphold the heartfelt essence of the original while steering clear of superficial embellishments. The recreation has also received the nod from the original composer, Anu Malik.

The final version is set to be filmed in a spectacular open-air backdrop featuring Sunny Deol (as voiced by Arijit Singh), Varun Dhawan (portrayed by Vishal Mishra), Ahan Shetty (Sonu Nigam), and Diljit Dosanjh (playing himself).

Originally composed by Anu Malik and lyrically crafted by Javed Akhtar for JP Dutta’s classic from 1997, Sandese Aate Hai emerged as a patriotic anthem and continues to be one of Bollywood's most revered tracks. Mithoon, who has previously modernized Udd Ja Kale Kawa for Gadar 2, demonstrates his skill in reinterpreting iconic songs for today's audience.

Border 2, produced by JP Dutta, Bhushan Kumar, and Nidhi Dutta, directed by Anurag Singh, features a stellar cast comprising Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, Sonam Bajwa, Mona Singh, Medha Rana, and Paramvir Cheema. The film is poised for release on January 22, aligning with the Republic Day weekend.
