A new advanced surgical training facility has been inaugurated by MedLab Training Institute at Dubai Science Park, recognized as the region's premier science-focused environment and part of the TECOM Group.
This new establishment aims to address the increasing necessity for practical, hands-on clinical training within the healthcare sector across the Middle East. The institute emphasizes cadaver-based and simulation training, enabling physicians to refine their techniques and advance their surgical expertise.
The facility anticipates training between 1,000 to 1,500 healthcare professionals annually, including consultants, specialists, and emerging practitioners. Training will be delivered by faculty drawn from global trainers, regional experts, and industry partners, providing participants varied exposure to innovative surgical practices.
The instructional staff comprises seasoned surgeons and specialists with notable academic credentials, many of whom are associated with leading medical institutions and universities in Europe, North America, and the Middle East.
Featuring cadaveric laboratories and state-of-the-art audiovisual systems for real-time demonstrations, the center is designed to foster an immersive learning atmosphere. Cadaveric training allows medical professionals to engage with authentic human anatomy under controlled conditions, promoting enhanced surgical confidence and improved patient care outcomes.
Training programs adhere to established regulatory and accreditation standards, with most sessions spanning one to three days and intensive training lasting up to eight hours daily.
The centre delivers specialized training across various disciplines including orthopaedics, spine surgery, sports surgery, maxillofacial surgeries, and reconstructive techniques.
According to Marwan Abdulaziz Janahi, the centre fortifies the healthcare and life sciences sector within the UAE by establishing advanced surgical training provisions in the country. He remarked that this initiative bolsters clinical skills and elevates patient care in alignment with the UAE's long-term aspirations, including the "We the UAE 2031" vision and Dubai's Economic Agenda "D33".
Dr. Bilal El-Yafawi noted that MedLab was founded to promote surgical training through practical, experience-based education mimicking actual clinical settings. He stated that this new facility will play a critical role in the ongoing development of healthcare practitioners in the region.
Additionally, MedLab aims to broaden its training offerings and forge stronger collaborations with healthcare establishments and industry leaders within the next few years. The institute's goal is to enhance participant numbers and establish the facility as a pivotal hub for advanced surgical education in the region.
