On June 4, Dubai became the focal point for clinical nutrition as the Middle Eastern Alliance for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition Congress (MEAPEN 2026) kicked off. This influential event unites healthcare leaders, researchers, and industry experts from across the globe to deliberate on the evolution of clinical nutrition and patient-oriented healthcare solutions.

Taking place at the InterContinental Hotel Festival City, the congress spans two days—June 4 and 5—and has drawn over 500 professionals from more than 15 countries. Attendees can look forward to engaging with over 70 speakers through 17 scientific sessions centering on evidence-based practices and innovative healthcare methods.

At the opening ceremony, Sheikha Shamsa bint Hasher Al Maktoum underlined the critical significance of clinical nutrition in today's healthcare landscape. She also acknowledged Dubai's prominence as a beacon for healthcare advances and international collaboration. After her speech, she toured various exhibition booths, connecting with company representatives.

Organized by INDEX Conferences and Exhibitions in collaboration with the Emirates Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition Society (UAESPEN), the congress enjoys support from Dubai Business Events as the Official Destination Partner.

The congress welcomed distinguished figures from the healthcare community, including international medical organizations and strategic partners. A key focus of discussions revolved around the increasing importance of nutrition in patient-centered care and the need for collaborative efforts to enhance patient outcomes.

Dr. Wafaa Helmi Ayesh, President of the MEAPEN Congress, remarked that the theme for this edition—"Advancing Clinical Nutrition: Bridging Science, Technology, and Patient-Centered Care"—reflects the fast-paced shifts occurring in global clinical nutrition today.

She emphasized that nutritional therapy is now essential for achieving better clinical results, aiding recovery, and fostering sustainable healthcare systems. The congress's extensive scientific program merges the latest research with applicable clinical insights, featuring contributions from preeminent global experts.

Day one of the congress featured keynote talks, panel discussions, and specialized sessions that explored various topics in clinical nutrition.

Several experts highlighted advancements in enteral and parenteral nutrition therapies, the intricacies of nutrition in critical care settings, pediatric needs, oncology nutrition, obesity management, personalized nutrition strategies, and more.

A prevalent theme was the transformative role of artificial intelligence and digital health technologies in refining clinical decision-making processes and enhancing patient care.

Participants also delved into updated nutrition guidelines and collaborative models designed to advance recovery, minimize complications, and promote long-term health outcomes.

Throughout the sessions, the consensus remained clear: nutrition is vital for disease prevention, treatment, and overall patient management, necessitating cooperative approaches among various healthcare professionals.

The congress is also acting as a platform for showcasing new regional and international research, featuring over 50 poster presentations that bring to light various studies and clinical insights in nutrition science.

Delegates from diverse backgrounds, including dietitians, physicians, and healthcare policymakers, are attending this crucial gathering from the Middle East and beyond.

Attendees can earn 28 Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits accredited by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) as part of their professional learning journey.

Supported by several renowned regional and international organizations, MEAPEN 2026 is positioned as a premier clinical nutrition event with backing from Nestlé Health Science, Eli Lilly, and others.

Focusing on cutting-edge research and collaboration, MEAPEN 2026 is fortifying its reputation as a leading congress in the field of clinical nutrition within the Middle East.
