Dubai is getting ready to host the second edition of L’Étape Dubai by Tour de France in January 2026. This exciting cycling event, supported by the city’s sports council and presented by a major automotive partner, promises new race routes, more activities, and a fun-filled weekend for amateur cyclists, families, and cycling fans. Registration for the event is now open, allowing everyone to join and experience the thrill of a world-famous cycling race right in the heart of the UAE.

The 2026 edition of L’Étape Dubai will start from Dubai Design District (D3) and finish at Expo Village Park. The new routes have been carefully designed to take cyclists past some of the city’s most iconic landmarks. Participants can choose from the longer 112 km “Epic Race,” which is a true test of endurance, or the 61 km “Classic Race,” which offers a more accessible option for riders who want to enjoy the experience at a comfortable pace.

Starting from D3, cyclists will enjoy stunning views of downtown Dubai before heading into specially designed loops, including a new route around Global Village. These loops will show off more of Dubai’s famous attractions, making the ride not only challenging but also visually spectacular. The finish line, along with the non-competitive events held on Saturday, will be at Expo Village Park. This location is equipped with world-class facilities, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment for all attendees. Families and children can also join in the fun through a 20 km Family Ride or a Kids’ Race ranging from 300 meters to 1.8 km. These rides are designed to create a lively festival atmosphere where cycling fans of all ages can participate together.

The event gives riders the chance to experience the essence of the Tour de France. Participants can test themselves in popular sprint sections, compete for special jerseys, and even meet and ride alongside former Tour de France champions. Crossing the finish line will be a moment of celebration, allowing cyclists to enjoy the experience in true Tour de France style.

A major highlight of the 2026 edition is the expanded Race Village at Expo Village Park. Powered by the event’s main sponsors and partners, the village will act as the central hub for riders, families, and visitors. The village will host a wide range of activities, including interactive challenges, exhibitions, and fun experiences aimed at creating a festival-like atmosphere. The previous edition of the race already set a high standard in race organization and participant engagement, and the new edition promises to take it even further.

In the months leading up to the main race weekend, Dubai will also host social rides and events for cyclists across the UAE. These rides are meant to connect the local cycling community, prepare participants for the main challenge, and promote a culture of cycling throughout the city. Experienced cycling experts will guide these rides to ensure they are fun, safe, and suitable for all levels. The goal is to make cycling more inclusive and enjoyable for everyone, while also highlighting Dubai as a growing hub for sports and outdoor activity.

The first edition of L’Étape Dubai in 2025 attracted over 1,000 riders, including 243 international participants and 266 Emiratis. This made it the largest amateur cycling event of its kind in the UAE during its debut year. The 2026 edition aims to welcome up to 2,000 riders across all categories, making it even bigger and more exciting. With competitive races, family-friendly rides, and community programs, L’Étape Dubai is set to showcase the city’s growing passion for cycling.

Eissa Sharif, Director of the Events Department at Dubai Sports Council, praised the success of the inaugural race, highlighting the capabilities of local talent in organizing international sporting events. He emphasized that the event aligns with Dubai’s vision to become a global sports hub and will continue to be used to promote youth programs and community activities encouraging physical fitness.

Fairouz Al Qazi, Race Director of L’Étape Dubai, expressed pride in the growth of the event and said that the 2026 edition would include new routes, more community rides, and an expanded Race Village designed to cater to both serious cyclists and families. The event’s main sponsors and local authorities will continue to support it, ensuring it grows in scale and popularity.

Antoine Quiers, Project Manager of the L’Étape Series, said that the event has quickly become the leading amateur cycling race in the region. With the support of local partners and the sports council, the second edition will be even more successful, attracting participants from around the UAE and abroad.

Lukas Honzak, Managing Director of the main automotive partner, highlighted the company’s long-standing connection with cycling and commitment to promoting active lifestyles. He shared that the company would lead the peloton on the new routes and expand its presence in the Race Village with activities for families and communities.

Overall, L’Étape Dubai 2026 promises a unique cycling experience combining sport, culture, and community engagement. With new routes, expanded activities, and opportunities for riders of all ages and skill levels, this event will further establish Dubai as a center for sports and cycling in the Middle East. It is not just a race but a celebration of cycling, fitness, and outdoor life, offering something for everyone from competitive cyclists to families looking for a fun weekend.
