Johor PAS Dismisses Rumours of Election Deal with BN

Post by : Shakul

Johor PAS has categorically rejected allegations circulating on social media suggesting that the party intends to withdraw from the forthcoming Johor state election to facilitate Barisan Nasional and Umno. Party representatives dismissed these claims as unfounded and politically driven attempts aimed at undermining the public’s trust in the party’s electoral framework ahead of the polls.

Mohd Firdaus Jaffar, the information chief of Johor PAS, clarified that neither the party's leadership nor the Perikatan Nasional coalition had directed the party to withdraw from the upcoming elections. He asserted that Johor PAS is entirely equipped to participate in the state elections at the appointed time.

This clarification follows a wave of viral social media messages indicating that PAS was engaged in discussions regarding political collaboration with Barisan Nasional’s leading party, Umno. These rumours implied that PAS might abdicate certain constituencies in return for political advantages within the Johor state framework.

According to Mohd Firdaus, such allegations are deliberately propagated by reckless groups aiming to instigate confusion among grassroots supporters and undermine party cohesion. He urged PAS members and supporters to remain steadfast against unverified political speculation that is circulating online.

The political discourse surrounding this matter intensified lately, particularly due to the controversies involving the appointments of unelected assemblymen in Johor. Some online narratives have linked this issue to purported covert discussions between PAS and Umno, although no credible evidence has emerged to substantiate these claims thus far.

Leaders from Johor PAS reaffirmed that the party’s electoral mechanism, at both state and local levels, has already initiated preparations for the upcoming elections. Party representatives emphasized a commitment to bolstering grassroots backing, devising campaign strategies, and readying candidates for electoral challenges in Johor.

Analysts believe that these rumours reveal an uptick in political conjecture regarding potential alliances among significant Malay-Muslim political factions ahead of envisioned elections. As one of Malaysia’s politically pivotal states, any insinuation of collaboration between competitive parties catalyzes substantial public discourse.

Despite ongoing speculation, PAS leaders maintain that the party will persist on its trajectory under the Perikatan Nasional coalition, remaining devoted to contesting seats in the state elections. Party members are also encouraged to engage the public actively while steering clear of distractions instigated by online political conjecture.
