Fushan Technology Aims for Significant Production Growth in Vietnam

Post by : Bianca Suleiman

Fushan Technology, a subsidiary of the Taiwanese electronics leader Foxconn, is pursuing official approval for a substantial expansion in Vietnam, aiming to elevate its role in the global electronics landscape. A document submitted to Bac Ninh province's environmental authority outlines significant upgrades currently underway at the facility in northern Vietnam.

The proposed expansion will enable the factory to start producing Xbox gaming consoles and additional electronic components, thereby enhancing Foxconn's supply strength for international tech brands. Furthermore, the company is targeting an increase in phone manufacturing output by an extra 30 million units, raising its annual production capacity to around 140 million units.

Additionally, the plans include the production of charging devices for smart rings—wearable tech that merges smartwatch functionalities with fitness tracking. The modernization efforts are underway, with full-scale operations anticipated to commence by April next year.

Fushan Technology's facility boasts a storied industrial background, previously serving as a manufacturing hub for Nokia and Microsoft mobile devices. The plant also has the capacity to generate up to 100,000 drones annually, demonstrating its diverse capabilities in high-demand tech markets.

Foxconn, a significant partner for Apple, Microsoft, and various global electronics companies, has committed over $3.2 billion to Vietnam as of 2024. The company's footprint in Vietnam has grown steadily since it first entered the market in the 2000s, with most operations centralized in Bac Ninh and Bac Giang provinces.
