Saudi budget airline Flynas is set to expand its Moscow routes by launching direct flights between Jeddah and Moscow’s Vnukovo International Airport starting December 23. The airline, which launched its Riyadh-Moscow route in August, will operate three weekly flights between the two cities, enhancing connectivity for travelers across the Kingdom and Europe.
The announcement, carried by the Saudi Press Agency on Wednesday, highlighted that the new route is a result of collaboration with the Saudi Tourism Authority and the Air Connectivity Program (ACP). Launched in 2021, the ACP aims to develop new air routes that boost Saudi Arabia’s tourism sector, making it easier for international visitors to access the Kingdom.
This expansion aligns with the objectives of the National Civil Aviation Strategy, which seeks to have Saudi national carriers connect the country with 250 international destinations. By 2030, the strategy aims to accommodate 330 million passengers annually and host 150 million tourists each year. The program also emphasizes improved access to the two holy mosques under the Pilgrims Experience Program, supporting religious tourism.
Flynas, established in 2007, is now the largest low-cost carrier in the Middle East and North Africa, serving 72 destinations across the region, Europe, and Asia. The airline has a strong domestic presence and has been recognized as the Middle East’s Leading Low-Cost Airline by the World Travel Awards. Additionally, Flynas earned a four-star rating from the APEX Global Airline Passenger Experience Association, underlining its commitment to high-quality service.
The new Jeddah-Moscow route is expected to facilitate smoother travel for both leisure and business passengers, strengthen economic and tourism ties between Saudi Arabia and Russia, and support the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 goals. It will also provide an additional international travel option for residents of the western region, particularly those traveling to Europe.
As international travel demand continues to rise post-pandemic, Flynas’ expansion reflects Saudi Arabia’s broader efforts to improve air connectivity, attract tourists, and maintain its position as a regional aviation hub.
With these direct flights, travelers from the Middle East will find easier access to Moscow, while Russian tourists and business travelers will have convenient options to visit Jeddah and explore the Kingdom’s cultural, historical, and religious sites.
