Supplier of Ketamine to Matthew Perry Sentenced to Two Years

Post by : Bianca Suleiman

A man implicated in providing ketamine to Hollywood star Matthew Perry prior to his fatal overdose has been sentenced to two years in federal prison.

Erik Fleming received his sentence on Wednesday after entering a guilty plea in August 2024 for conspiracy to distribute ketamine and distribution resulting in death. Prosecutors detailed that Fleming supplied the drug to Perry’s personal assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa, who administered the lethal dose to the actor.

US District Judge Sherilyn Garnett has mandated that Fleming undergo three years of supervised release following his incarceration, as per the Justice Department’s statement.

Medical authorities confirmed that Perry succumbed to the effects of ketamine in October 2023. Various contributing factors led to the actor losing consciousness and subsequently drowning in his hot tub, with Perry being 54 at the time.

Matthew Perry became a household name for his role as Chandler Bing in the beloved sitcom Friends. He had been candid about his extensive battles with addiction, particularly during his rise in the acting scene.

Ketamine, a quick-acting anesthetic utilized for treating conditions such as depression and anxiety, is also often abused recreationally due to its hallucinogenic properties.

Fleming marks the fourth individual sentenced as part of the ongoing investigation into Perry’s untimely demise.
