Emirates has formalized a new partnership with GE Aerospace aimed at bolstering its aircraft engine repair and maintenance services in Dubai. This collaboration emphasizes the advancement of piece part component repair services specifically for the GE90 and GP7200 engine models.
The agreement was ratified at the Emirates Group Headquarters with Adel Al Redha, Deputy President and Chief Operating Officer of Emirates, and Mohamed Ali, President and CEO of Commercial Engines & Services at GE Aerospace, in attendance.
This collaboration is set to enhance the Emirates Engine Maintenance Centre (EEMC), supported by a significant investment of US$300 million, which aims to elevate the airline's maintenance, repair, and overhaul capabilities for its aircraft engines.
As part of the agreement, GE Aerospace will extend its expert consultancy and training services to the Emirates Engineering teams. The partnership includes establishing a dedicated piece part component repair line and facilitating the transfer of technical expertise, industry standards, and best practices to the workforce at EEMC.
Adel Al Redha emphasized that this agreement is crucial for enhancing Emirates’ engine repair operations and for cultivating advanced maintenance capabilities in Dubai. He noted that the collaboration will equip employees with the specialized skills necessary for servicing GE90 and GP7200 engines, the engines powering Emirates' Boeing 777 fleet and a portion of its Airbus A380 aircraft.
He further stated that the expansion of the Emirates Engine Maintenance Centre will solidify Emirates Engineering's reputation as a premier hub for aircraft engine repairs, improving the efficiency of engine services for the airline’s expanding fleet.
Mohamed Ali recognized Emirates as a vital customer and longstanding partner of GE Aerospace. He added that this agreement underscores GE Aerospace’s dedication to supporting airlines throughout their engine lifecycles while also fostering long-term growth within the UAE's aviation industry.
Currently, Emirates Engineering offers a range of engineering, line maintenance, and base maintenance support for over 270 aircraft, including Boeing 777, Airbus A380, and Airbus A350 models, from its state-of-the-art facilities located in Dubai.
Established in 2014, the Emirates Engine Maintenance Centre continues to be a vital provider of engine repair and maintenance services for the Emirates fleet.
