Strengthening Economic Ties: Dubai and Serbia's Trade Initiatives

Post by : Bianca Suleiman

The Dubai and Serbia economic partnership is set to grow following a high-level roundtable at the Dubai Chambers headquarters. This event brought together key government officials and business leaders to pinpoint new opportunities for trade and investment.

Co-hosted by Dubai Chambers and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia, the meeting aimed to bolster cooperation in sectors with significant potential for both economies. Highlights of the discussions included opportunities in construction, energy, information technology, agri-food, healthcare, trade, fintech, industrial automation, and transportation — indicating a strong intent to forge new commercial connections.

Efforts to enhance bilateral trade were also on the agenda, reflecting the growing engagement between the two regions. In 2023, there has been a notable rise in Dubai's attractiveness to Serbian entrepreneurs, with 83 new Serbian companies registering with the Dubai Chamber of Commerce within the first nine months, raising the total number of active Serbian firms in Dubai to 293 by September's close.

Trade figures mirrored this positive trend; bilateral non-oil trade between Dubai and Serbia reached approximately AED 336 million in 2024, a sizable increase of 44% compared to the previous year — indicative of heightened demand, better market connectivity, and increased investor confidence.

As both parties continue seeking innovative partnership structures and sector-specific collaborations, the outcome of this roundtable is anticipated to promote robust commercial interactions and pave the way for long-term economic benefits for businesses in both regions.
