Dubai Unveils New Aviation Consumer Rights Directive

Post by : Bianca Suleiman

In an effort to bolster passenger rights in the aviation industry, the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA) has rolled out the Aviation Consumer Welfare Directive. This initiative aims to facilitate clearer communication between travelers, airlines, and accredited travel agents.

The directive establishes a comprehensive framework detailing passenger entitlements and setting forth the obligations of airlines and travel agents. Additionally, it implements a methodical approach to address complaints, with the DCAA acting as an impartial intermediary to guarantee fairness and transparency, aligning with global standards.

Passengers can now conveniently submit their feedback and complaints via the DCAA's official website, where they can also monitor the status of their inquiries. This advancement enhances transparency and boosts the overall customer experience.

H.E. Mohammed Abdulla Lengawi, DCAA's Director General, remarked that this development signifies the authority’s dedication to reinforcing passenger rights and elevating the aviation sector in Dubai. He highlighted that the move aims to improve service standards and foster increased trust among travelers.

The DCAA encourages travelers to explore the directive and utilize the newly established service to grasp their rights better, thus ensuring hassle-free travel. Airlines and licensed travel agents are also called upon to support this initiative, contributing to a more reliable aviation framework in Dubai.
