Dubai, UAE – December 2025: Dubai Health has proudly reported the successful completion of 234 kidney transplant surgeries since initiating its transplant program in 2016, boasting an impressive success rate surpassing 95 percent. This initiative exemplifies the power of cross-sector collaboration in enhancing critical healthcare services.
The program is executed through partnerships involving federal, local, and private-sector organizations, including the Ministry of Health and Prevention, Dubai Health Authority, Dubai Healthcare City Authority, Dubai Airports, Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services, Dubai Police, Dubai Customs, Dubai Public Prosecution, and Mediclinic City Hospital, among others. It aligns with the national Hayat Program for Donation and Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissue, ensuring vital treatments are accessible to a wider audience.
Since its inception, the program has facilitated transplants for patients from various nationalities, with children comprising 31.2% of recipients. A total of 120 procedures were performed at Dubai Health facilities, 90 at Mediclinic City Hospital, and 24 at Al Qassimi Hospital. This achievement reflects a strong community awareness concerning organ donation, with both living and deceased donors making significant contributions.
His Excellency Dr. Amer Sharif, CEO of Dubai Health and President of Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU), commented:
"These accomplishments underscore a united approach toward organ transplantation and reaffirm our dedication to delivering specialized care. The leadership prioritizes human health, reinforcing Dubai’s stature in medical excellence."
Dubai Health ensures a multidisciplinary approach throughout the transplant journey, including thorough assessments, surgical procedures, and structured long-term follow-ups, all adhering to the highest standards of medical excellence.
Furthermore, the Al Jalila Foundation supports patients through initiatives like ‘Your Donation Saves Lives’, which promotes organ donation and finances treatments. This program has alleviated costs for 66 patients (31.4% of all transplant cases). Additionally, the ‘A’awen’ program provides essential care to those unable to access or afford specialized treatments, illustrating Dubai Health’s commitment to accessible healthcare.
Dubai Health continues its commitment to offering specialized kidney care at Dubai Hospital, Al Jalila Children’s Hospital, Al Twar Dialysis Center, and Al Barsha Dialysis Center, ensuring world-class medical services for all patients.
