Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, who chairs the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, led the 93rd meeting of the council via a virtual platform. This session saw participation from Vice Chairman Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer alongside senior officials and influential members from key government and energy organizations.
The agenda included a review of Dubai's strategy for retail fuel station expansion, aimed at enhancing the quality of fuel services and ensuring improved traffic flow at service stations across the emirate.
In addition, attendees explored various strategic initiatives designed to elevate operational efficiency and safety in fuel distribution. Ongoing improvements by Emirates National Oil Company to streamline fuelling processes and manage vehicle flow at service stations were also discussed.
A significant portion of the meeting delved into the progressive adoption of artificial intelligence by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA). Notably, this includes the groundbreaking introduction of the world's first AI-powered gas turbine controller, which will be implemented at the Jebel Ali Power Generation and Water Desalination Complex.
Furthermore, DEWA is set to unveil its "Virtual Engineer" in June 2026, a development expected to significantly enhance both system performance and operational efficiencies.
Officials remarked that the application of AI is already yielding productivity increases at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, now contributing 3,860 megawatts—approximately 21.5% of Dubai’s total energy mix.
In its ambition to raise clean energy capacity to over 36% by 2030, Dubai remains focused on long-term strategies aimed at achieving 100% clean energy production by 2050.
The council reiterated its dedication to integrating advanced technologies and expanding infrastructure to foster sustainable growth and energy efficiency within Dubai.
