Dubai Chambers Enhances Trade Partnerships with Ethiopia

Post by : Bianca Suleiman

Dubai Chambers has undertaken a significant series of high-level discussions in Ethiopia, targeting the enhancement of trade and investment ties with one of Africa's most rapidly evolving economies. These meetings were conducted in Addis Ababa, forming part of a larger trade initiative involving Ethiopia and Ghana, designed to assist companies based in Dubai in discovering fresh business openings and extending their reach into thriving African sectors.

The delegation was spearheaded by Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah, the President and CEO of Dubai Chambers. During the visit, they engaged with Ethiopian governmental representatives, investment authorities, and business leaders to explore avenues for increasing collaboration in industry, trade, and investment.

A pivotal discussion was held with Melaku Alebel, Ethiopia’s Minister of Industry. The focus was on fostering industrial cooperation, boosting trade exchanges, and cultivating partnerships between Dubai and Ethiopian enterprises. Both parties delved into crafting new opportunities that would enhance the private sectors in each economy.

Additionally, talks with representatives from the Ethiopian Investment Commission underscored Ethiopia’s investment landscape and identified strategies to draw more international enterprises and investors to both regions. The discussions emphasized creating a conducive environment for businesses keen on expanding their operations and investments.

Moreover, the delegation met with Ethiopian Investment Holdings, which stands as Africa's largest sovereign wealth fund. Discussion topics included potential long-term collaborations and investment avenues across diverse sectors. Both parties considered areas of synergy that could bolster economic growth and yield mutual advantages.

Dubai Chambers remarked that this visit underscores the strengthening economic ties between Dubai and various African nations. This trade mission is aligned with the organization's ongoing initiatives to bolster the global outreach of Dubai-based enterprises and reinforce Dubai’s stature as a premier trade and investment hub worldwide.

The outcomes of these meetings are anticipated to pave the way for new cooperative ventures, escalating bilateral trade, and fostering investments that promise economic upliftment for both Dubai and Ethiopia.
