Dien Bien Advances Major Investment Initiatives

Post by : Shakul

The Investment Promotion Conference 2026 in Dien Bien Province saw Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Van Thang in attendance as the area unveiled plans for ambitious investment projects and multiple agreements to elevate its status as a focal point for tourism, infrastructure development, and sustainable economic growth. This notable gathering attracted over 1,200 attendees, including diplomats, governmental representatives, business figures, and foreign investors from nations like Thailand, France, China, Japan, South Korea, and Laos.

During the conference, contracts and investment certificates were awarded for initiatives exceeding 48 trillion Vietnamese dong. Authorities also formalized numerous Memorandums of Understanding with investors, promising a total investment pledge of over 209 trillion Vietnamese dong. These initiatives were referred to as the “pink bricks” that would lay the groundwork for the province’s economic evolution and future development.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Van Thang commended Dien Bien for its proactive approach in enhancing its investment environment through administrative changes and the introduction of a special “green channel” system. The province aims to significantly reduce approval and process times for priority projects by as much as 70 to 90 percent, which reflects its commitment to fostering a transparent atmosphere for investors.

The conference spotlighted Dien Bien’s standout attributes, such as its notable historical significance tied to the Dien Bien Phu battlefield, strategic border locations adjacent to China and Laos, alongside its abundant tourism and renewable energy resources. Officials pointed out the area’s numerous natural hot springs and prospects for wind, solar energy, high-tech agriculture, and cross-border trade.

One of the major highlights was the announcement of a comprehensive 228-hectare urban, tourism, and sports development initiative by Vingroup in Dien Bien Phu. This ambitious project will feature residential areas, resorts, commercial zones, educational institutions, healthcare facilities, and an 18-hole golf course, all designed to harmonize with the breathtaking landscape of the northwest. This mega development aims to support roughly 12,000 residents while significantly boosting tourist activities and economic growth in the province.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Van Thang emphasized the need for economic growth to be sustainable and mindful of the environment. He called for local authorities and investors to cherish cultural diversity, safeguard the ecosystem, and ensure that developments benefit the community. He further insisted on the urgency of translating agreements into tangible construction and outcomes that enhance job opportunities and living standards for residents.

The Vietnamese central government reassured its ongoing support for the long-range development plans of Dien Bien, including infrastructure innovations like expressways and border connection projects. Authorities are optimistic about the province’s potential to evolve into a crucial economic and tourism hub within northwestern Vietnam, contributing to the nation’s overarching aspirations for sustainable growth, modernization, and regional integration.
