Deadly Gaza Attacks Escalate Amid Global Calls

Post by :

Israeli forces have killed at least 36 Palestinians in the latest attacks on Gaza. The air and ground strikes continue as Israel presses its plan to take control of the largest city in the Gaza Strip.

Residential buildings are being destroyed as Israeli forces push deeper into Gaza City. Satellite images show military vehicles surrounding the city from multiple directions, and tanks have been seen entering the Nassr neighborhood, very close to al-Shifa Hospital.

A UN commission has warned that this destruction appears to follow a pattern that could be considered genocide. The UN’s human rights office said these military actions are creating fear among the people of Gaza City and forcing tens of thousands to flee their homes.

Global leaders have spoken at the United Nations General Assembly, calling for an immediate stop to the fighting. US President Donald Trump said the Gaza war should end immediately, but he opposed the idea of Western countries recognizing a Palestinian state, claiming it would reward Hamas. On the sidelines of the UN meeting, Trump met leaders from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, Indonesia, and Pakistan. Turkish President Erdogan described the meeting as “very fruitful” and said a joint statement would be released.

Civilians Suffering

Israeli attacks have hit civilians in multiple areas of Gaza. In Tal al-Hawa, one man was killed and others were injured. Another strike targeted people waiting for water in the Daraj neighborhood. Hospitals and medical centers have also been damaged. Israeli shelling destroyed Gaza City’s main medical center, injuring at least two medical staff members. Soldiers have reportedly prevented evacuation of medical supplies, even as the hospital cared for wounded patients, cancer patients, and blood donors. Other clinics in Tal al-Hawa and the Shati refugee camp have been destroyed or are under siege.

People trapped under the rubble are calling for help, but rescue is difficult. “The situation continues to get worse, especially in central Gaza City,” a reporter said. “Israeli forces are using artillery and drones to push more people south, but many families are still trapped under destroyed buildings.”

No Safe Zones

Thousands of Palestinians fleeing Gaza City have moved to central and southern areas, but these regions are also under heavy attack. The Israeli-designated “safe zone” of al-Mawasi has been repeatedly bombed. Health officials warn that it does not have enough water, food, or medical care, and overcrowded camps are spreading disease. Experts say forcing people to move under fire is part of a plan that aims to remove families from their homes and deprive them of shelter, food, and safety.

At the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis, three Palestinians were shot and killed by Israeli forces near a supposed safe zone. Three children also died from malnutrition in southern Gaza. In August, a UN food security report declared that famine is spreading in northern Gaza and could reach southern areas. Hospitals face fuel shortages, and the collapse of health services has led UN experts to accuse Israel of using starvation as a weapon of war.

Escalation in the West Bank

While Gaza faces destruction, the occupied West Bank is also under attack. Israel has threatened to accelerate plans to annex parts of the West Bank, following recognition of Palestinian statehood by some Western countries, including France and the UK. Violence has increased on the ground. Armed settlers shot and killed a Palestinian man, Saeed Murad al-Nasan, in al-Mughayyir, north of Ramallah. Israeli forces have raided towns near Nablus and closed the King Hussein (Allenby) Bridge, the main route connecting the West Bank to Jordan.

The UN report describes these actions – forced displacement, denial of return, destruction of homes, and use of starvation – as part of a systematic effort to secure permanent Israeli control over Gaza and maintain a Jewish majority in the West Bank.

The situation in Gaza and the West Bank continues to worsen daily, with civilians facing deaths, injuries, displacement, and a lack of basic necessities. The international community is calling for an urgent ceasefire, but on the ground, the humanitarian crisis is deepening.
