Balbir Singh Commemorates 40 Years with McDonald's in Massachusetts

Post by : Bianca Suleiman

Massachusetts – In a touching ceremony on Monday, Balbir Singh, an employee of Indian descent, celebrated an incredible 40-year journey at a McDonald's location in Massachusetts. Arriving in a limousine, Singh was welcomed by enthusiastic colleagues and franchise leaders, commemorating his four-decade commitment to the fast-food giant.

Since moving to the United States in the 1980s, Singh began his career at McDonald’s in Somerville in 1985. He progressed from kitchen crew member to overseeing multiple franchises, earning a stellar reputation for his dedication to both the company and his fellow employees.

This milestone event featured a service award, a commemorative jacket representing the many Americans who have worked at McDonald's dubbed “One in Eight,” and a $40,000 check in honor of his 40 years of service. Colleagues, who affectionately referred to him as “papa bear,” rolled out the red carpet and participated in a dinner to celebrate his remarkable contributions.

Franchise owner Lindsay Wallin praised Singh’s work ethic, reminiscing about how he helped mold the restaurant's culture and mentored numerous new staff members. “Balbir has fully embraced our motto of ‘Why not?’ and has inspired many team members in their growth within the company,” Wallin stated.

Reflecting on his lengthy tenure with a sense of humility, Singh described McDonald's as “kind of like family,” which speaks volumes about his loyalty over the years. His journey, celebrated with warmth and gratitude, exemplifies dedication, commitment, and the relationships nurtured through consistent hard work.
