The Consulate General of India in Dubai has officially expressed its profound sadness following the tragic loss of an Indian crew member during a maritime incident.
In a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), the consulate confirmed it is in communication with the ship's owner to gather further information regarding the unfortunate event and pledged to offer all necessary support as quickly as possible.
The consulate remarked, “We are deeply saddened by the tragic incident at sea that has resulted in the loss of an Indian crew member. The Consulate is coordinating with the shipowner to confirm more details and will prioritize assistance in this matter. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family.”

On another note, on May 6, the Director of Shipping from the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Opesh Kumar Sharma, emphasized that all Indian seafarers in the region are secure, with no incidents reported from May 4 to May 6.
He highlighted the government's success in the safe repatriation of over 2,999 Indian seafarers from various Gulf locations, including 23 in the recent 48 hours.
Sharma reiterated that the Ministry is collaborating closely with the Ministry of External Affairs, Indian embassies, and maritime stakeholders to ensure the welfare and safety of Indian seafarers in maritime operations.
