The Central Bank of the UAE has granted “MINT Gateway” and its subsidiary, “Alternative Venture Capital”, an in-principle approval to launch “Omla Community Bank” in Umm Al Quwain.
This digital bank will take root in Umm Al Quwain and aims to extend its services throughout all seven emirates.
Abdulrazzaq Al Abdulla, the visionary behind “Omla” and Chairman of GBS Holding Group and “Mint Gateway”, hailed this approval as a pivotal moment in the quest to reshape financial services in the UAE. He expressed gratitude to the Government of Umm Al Quwain and the Central Bank of the UAE for their backing.
The target of “Omla Community Bank” is to foster a state-of-the-art banking ecosystem driven by artificial intelligence, streamlined automation, and a robust digital infrastructure. It plans to serve individuals, families, entrepreneurs, and small to medium-sized enterprises with accessible and efficient financial solutions.
Al Abdulla emphasized the essential role of artificial intelligence in enhancing customer service, risk management, compliance, governance, and cybersecurity within the bank's operations. This AI-centric approach is poised to boost efficiency, transparency, and foster sustainable growth.
Beyond conventional banking services, Omla aims to craft an integrated financial platform that addresses daily concerns such as housing, education, healthcare, transportation, and commerce through AI-enhanced financial solutions.
Omla Community Bank will introduce a progressive workplace culture marked by its “No Tie Policy”, which embodies flexibility and innovation, allowing for greater customer engagement and creative thinking.
With a vision from its founding shareholders, “Mint Gateway” and “Alternative Venture Capital”, the bank plans to merge financial know-how, strategic investments, and a forward-thinking outlook to create a banking platform aligned with the UAE’s evolving digital landscape.
The initiative is positioned to facilitate the UAE’s objectives in financial inclusion, SME development, responsible AI practices, digital economy progress, and sustainable community growth.
Upon its official unveiling, Omla Community Bank will offer various services including digital accounts, payments, remittances, savings products, responsible lending, and AI-driven financial insights.
All offerings will be subject to final approvals from the Central Bank of the UAE prior to operational commencement.
