Apple has launched a range of new products at its annual event, introducing what it calls the “next chapter” in its technology journey. The highlight of the event was the iPhone Air, a slimmer and lighter smartphone that promises better performance, longer battery life, and durability. Alongside this, the company also revealed the iPhone 17, a new generation of its flagship series, with improved cameras, brighter screens, and faster processors.
iPhone Air – A New Slim Model with Big Changes
The new iPhone Air is designed to be thinner and lighter than any iPhone ever made. It comes with a high-density battery, which means the phone will run longer on a single charge, even though it is slimmer in design. Apple also fitted the device with a brand-new processor that makes it faster and more efficient.
During the event, Apple’s CEO described the iPhone Air as a “game-changer”, saying it would redefine how people see the iPhone. The device starts at $999, and Apple claims it is the most durable iPhone yet.
Industry experts believe the iPhone Air is not just another version of the iPhone but a step closer to competing with foldable phones, which are popular in Asia, especially in China. Currently, Samsung leads in the foldable market with its Galaxy S25 Edge, but Apple is expected to join the race in the near future.
iPhone 17 – Faster and Smarter
The company also introduced the iPhone 17, which continues its famous iPhone lineup. This version will come with a brighter, more scratch-resistant screen, giving users a better experience in daily use.
The iPhone 17 is powered by the new A19 chip, made with advanced 3-nanometer (3nm) technology. This chip is designed not just for speed but also for on-device artificial intelligence features, allowing the phone to process AI tasks without relying too much on cloud services.
Apple has also improved the front-facing camera, adding a differently shaped sensor. This change is aimed at improving horizontal selfies, a feature expected to attract younger users who are active on social media platforms.
New AirPods Pro 3 – Live Language Translation
Another major announcement was the launch of AirPods Pro 3. These wireless earbuds are equipped with a powerful new feature: live translation.
If two people speaking different languages are both wearing the new AirPods Pro 3, the device will be able to translate conversations in near real-time, making communication easier for travelers, businesspeople, and multicultural communities.
The AirPods Pro 3 will cost $249, the same price as the previous generation, and they will be available starting September 19.
New Apple Watch – Blood Pressure Monitor Coming Soon
Apple also introduced its latest Apple Watch Series 11, along with updates to the SE and Ultra models. The most exciting addition is a blood pressure monitor, although this feature is still waiting for regulatory approval before it can be widely used.
The company said the blood pressure monitor will not detect every case of high blood pressure but could notify over one million people worldwide about potential risks. The feature is expected to be available in 150 countries once approval is granted.
Despite the advanced features, Apple has kept the prices unchanged. The Apple Watch SE will remain at $249, the Series 11 at $399, and the larger Ultra model at $799.
Competition and Market Impact
The iPhone Air and iPhone 17 will face tough competition from Samsung, which has already advanced into foldable phone technology. Analysts believe that Apple’s new devices will create excitement, especially in markets like China, where foldable phones are in high demand.
“This new device brings a sense of freshness to the iPhone, which many people felt has not changed much in recent years,” said a technology analyst. Experts also believe the new lineup will help Apple cater to a wider range of customers, from those looking for slim and stylish phones to those who want high performance.
Trade Tariffs and Financial Challenges
However, Apple’s launch comes at a time of global trade challenges. With new trade tariffs introduced by the United States government, Apple has warned that it may face extra costs of more than $1 billion this quarter alone.
This has raised questions about whether Apple will increase iPhone prices in the future or find other ways to absorb these costs. One possibility is keeping the price of base models steady while raising prices on higher-storage versions.
AI and Siri Updates
While the iPhone 17 comes with some AI capabilities, there were no major updates to Siri, Apple’s digital assistant. The company said that a fully revamped Siri will arrive next year.
Meanwhile, Apple has partnered with OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, to develop smarter AI features in its operating systems. Analysts believe Apple may expand these partnerships before launching the new Siri.
Stock Market Reaction
Even with all the exciting announcements, Apple’s stock dropped by 1.5% on Wall Street during the product launch event. Investors seem to be waiting to see how the new lineup performs in the market and whether Apple can handle the impact of tariffs.
