A significant advancement in agricultural logistics for Pakistan has been announced, with AD Ports Group forming a long-term collaboration with Karachi Gateway Terminal Multipurpose Limited (KGTML) and Louis Dreyfus Company Pakistan (LDC). This partnership aims to develop and manage a modern clean bulk terminal at Karachi Port, which will crucially enhance the nation's food supply chain and boost maritime efficiency.
As per the agreement, KGTML is set to invest in creating a state-of-the-art food-grade bulk terminal that includes a dedicated conveyor and handling system, complete with necessary infrastructure and utilities. This facility will ensure the safe storage and effective handling of dry agricultural commodities in compliance with international standards. LDC, a prominent global agricultural merchant, has assured that it will increase inbound cargo volumes via this newly established terminal as part of its expanded operations in Pakistan.
This investment adds to the USD 75 million already earmarked by AD Ports Group for the first phase of the KGTML development. Additionally, this venture aligns with the strategic priorities of ADQ—parent company of both AD Ports Group and LDC—aiming to enhance vital infrastructure and bolster regional supply chains.
The formal agreement was signed in Abu Dhabi, with senior officials from both companies present, underscoring the significance of this initiative for Pakistan’s port system and the strengthening economic relationships between the UAE and Pakistan.
Once operational, the terminal is anticipated to streamline cargo handling, enhance storage capacities, and facilitate dependable movement of agricultural products in and out of Pakistan. By integrating advanced systems and food-grade safety protocols, this terminal will enhance Pakistan’s resilience against supply chain interruptions and elevate the efficiency of its agricultural logistics network.
In addition to this project, the AD Ports Group continues to advance the development and management of the Karachi Gateway Terminal Limited (KGTL), further establishing Pakistan as a critical maritime gateway to Central Asia and a pivotal point in the evolving Middle Corridor trade route connecting China and Europe.
This new clean bulk facility signifies a crucial achievement for both the UAE and Pakistan, fostering trade connections and solidifying Pakistan's position in regional agricultural markets.
