Abu Dhabi’s goal to become the best in AI-powered government has been praised around the world. Its TAMM AI Assistant has become a top five finalist at the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Prizes 2025. It is listed under the E-Government (C7) category.

TAMM AI Assistant was created by the Department of Government Enablement – Abu Dhabi (DGE). It is part of Abu Dhabi’s Digital Strategy for 2025 to 2027. This platform started in October 2024 and has already helped people with more than 630,000 chats and over one million messages. It connects users to over 950 services in both Arabic and English using AI support.

This shortlisting shows Abu Dhabi’s journey to becoming the first government in the world that is completely AI-based. Such a government will know what people need even before they ask, remove problems in services, and make everything simple and easy for everyone. TAMM is part of a bigger digital plan by DGE, which wants to use AI in 200 areas by 2027 to change the way the government serves its people.

His Excellency Ahmed Tamim Hisham Al Kuttab, Chairman of DGE Abu Dhabi, said, “TAMM’s nomination shows how committed we are to build a government that works for the people. We want to make it faster, smarter, and easier to use. TAMM AI Assistant is a great example of what we can achieve when we mix technology with care and purpose. We want to build a government that knows what people need, removes barriers, and keeps people at the heart of everything.”

Until now, more than 400,000 people have used TAMM AI Assistant. It solves 95 per cent of the questions by itself. This allows human staff to focus only on the tough questions.

His Excellency Dr Mohamed Al Askar, Director General of TAMM, said, “This global recognition of TAMM is an important step for Abu Dhabi’s digital government plans. It shows what is possible when we use innovation, data, and teamwork to serve people better.”

The WSIS Prizes honour digital and technology projects that help achieve the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. Winners in 18 categories will be announced at a special event in Geneva, Switzerland, on 8 July 2025.

The UAE has won many WSIS Prizes since the programme began in 2012. This year, TAMM AI Assistant is the only UAE project to be shortlisted for the 2025 WSIS Prizes. In the past, winning UAE projects focused on digital learning, cybersecurity, smart platforms, and new ideas for public services.

Today, TAMM is an important part of daily life in Abu Dhabi. It helps people get government services easily and quickly. Being a finalist at WSIS Prizes 2025 shows Abu Dhabi as a world leader in digital government and highlights DGE’s important role in building an AI-powered public sector for the future.
