Scheduled for May 3, the Zayed Charity Run 2026 will take place at Meskel Square in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, commencing at 7:00 AM. This event underscores the UAE's deep dedication to humanitarian principles and promotes a global message centered around unity and kindness.
This invitation-only gathering aims to unite participants for both athletic and charitable endeavors. All funds raised will benefit the Emirates Red Crescent, which is directing contributions to the Children’s Heart Fund Ethiopia to enhance healthcare services for young patients.
A group of 50 runners from the UAE is expected to participate, continuing a global initiative that has engaged countless runners worldwide. This event seeks to celebrate cultural diversity while fostering unity across different communities.
Adding to the excitement, a total prize fund of AED 150,000 is available for competitors, although the event’s primary goal remains its humanitarian mission.
On May 1, a press conference featured Lt. General (Ret.) Mohammed Hilal Al Kaabi, the Supreme Organising Committee Chairman, along with Ahmed Sari Al Mazrouei, the Secretary-General of the Emirates Red Crescent Authority, who emphasized the initiative's significance and its global repercussions.
Initiated in memory of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the Zayed Charity Run has gathered over 700,000 runners and generated more than $173 million for healthcare and humanitarian efforts across the globe.
Organizers emphasize that this event transcends a mere race; it embodies the principles of giving, inclusion, and community engagement, while strengthening international bonds. This initiative adeptly merges sports with impactful humanitarian work, fostering a significant positive change in communities worldwide.
