During a significant national conference in Hanoi, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung heralded the pivotal roles of science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation as essential for Vietnam's future development and economic prosperity.

The Prime Minister participated in the Vietnam Science, Technology and Innovation Day celebrations alongside discussions on the Implementation of Strategic Technologies on May 18, 2026, attended by government officials, scientists, academia, businesses, and international experts.

In his address, Le Minh Hung underscored the necessity for Vietnam to gain mastery over strategic technologies, enhancing national self-sufficiency and competitiveness within a swift global economic landscape. He referred to science and technology as the "golden key" to fulfilling the nation’s ambitious long-term development objectives.

The conference centered around the rollout of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW and the advancement of strategic technologies in line with new governmental directives. Officials highlighted the crucial role of innovative technology and digital transformation as cornerstones for Vietnam's revamped economic framework.

PM Hung asserted that the focus of strategic technology growth should be on generating practical products with substantial commercial potential, high localization rates, and improved labor efficiency. He emphasized the vital part that businesses, universities, and research institutes should play in fostering an innovation-friendly environment.

The government advocated for enhanced international partnerships, technology transfer from foreign investors, and the cultivation of a skilled workforce. Priority will be placed on training future specialists in AI, technology, and nurturing young scientists.

Minister of Science and Technology Vu Hai Quan revealed the intention to consolidate 42 national science and technology initiatives into six major national programs, aimed at bettering efficiency and resource allocation.

Various organizations showcased projects at the conference, focusing on areas like artificial intelligence, semiconductor innovation, biotechnology, cloud solutions, cybersecurity, and digital identification systems to bolster Vietnam's tech sovereignty.

In closing, PM Le Minh Hung urged scientists, entrepreneurs, and tech firms to further advance innovation, contributing to the establishment of a prosperous and technologically developed Vietnam in the years ahead.
