A tense and highly symbolic protest unfolded outside the Iranian Embassy in London, where demonstrators gathered to voice strong opposition to Iran’s current leadership. During the protest, one individual climbed onto the embassy building and removed the official flag of the Islamic Republic of Iran. In its place, the protester raised the Lion and Sun flag, a symbol associated with Iran before the 1979 revolution.
The act was met with loud cheers from protesters gathered below, many of whom were chanting slogans calling for freedom, justice, and political change in Iran. The Lion and Sun emblem has become a powerful sign for some Iranians abroad who oppose the current government and support a different future for the country.
Police were present at the scene and closely monitored the demonstration. Authorities later confirmed that arrests were made in connection with trespassing and related offenses. Despite the dramatic moment at the embassy, the protest remained largely controlled, with no major injuries reported.
The flag was eventually removed, and the embassy restored its original flag. Still, images and videos of the incident spread rapidly on social media, drawing international attention and sparking debate about freedom of expression, diplomacy, and ongoing unrest linked to Iran.
