UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan spoke with Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, who expressed gratitude for the UAE's support to those affected by catastrophic flooding and heavy rains in Sri Lanka. The Sri Lankan leader acknowledged the UAE’s swift response and assistance during this challenging period.

In their dialogue, Sheikh Mohamed conveyed his heartfelt condolences to President Dissanayake and the citizens of Sri Lanka regarding the tragic loss of life attributed to the floods. He extended his sympathies to the victims' families and wished the nation resilience and recovery as it strives to overcome the aftermath of this disaster.

The UAE's response underscores its enduring commitment to aiding nations facing humanitarian challenges. The country prioritizes prompt and effective assistance to alleviate suffering and aid communities in rebuilding their lives post-natural disasters. This ethos has consistently guided the UAE's global actions through the years.

Upon the onset of the floods in Sri Lanka, the UAE promptly initiated emergency relief efforts through its humanitarian agencies. These initiatives were organized by the Joint Operations Command in collaboration with the UAE Agency for International Aid and the Emirates Red Crescent, ensuring that succor reached the affected regions without delay.

Search and rescue operations were executed in the most impacted areas by teams from Abu Dhabi Civil Defence. These teams provided on-ground support to assist individuals trapped by floodwaters and augmented local emergency services during critical rescue missions.

Beyond rescue efforts, the UAE dispatched vital relief supplies, including food and emergency shelter materials, to aid displaced families. These humanitarian supplies aimed to address urgent needs and offer temporary solace to those who suffered loss of housing due to the floods.

The UAE's unwavering assistance emphasizes its dedication to humanitarian principles and international collaboration. By extending support to Sri Lanka amid this crisis, the UAE reaffirmed its commitment to assisting nations in distress and fostering stability and recovery during trying times.
