UAE Secures Landmark C-390 Aircraft Acquisition for Air Force Enhancement

His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, was present for the pivotal signing of a defence contract for the acquisition of C-390 Millennium aircraft for the UAE Air Force.

This agreement was formalized during his visit to the Tawazun Council for Defence Enablement's exhibit at the Make it in the Emirates 2026 event.

The contract was executed by Dr. Nasser Humaid Al Nuaimi, Secretary-General of Tawazun Council, along with Bosco da Costa Jr., President and CEO of Embraer Defense & Security.

This initiative involves Tawazun Council contracting with Brazil's Embraer for the delivery of 10 C-390 Millennium aircraft, with the potential for 10 additional units at a later date. Aimed at amplifying the UAE’s airlift capabilities, this agreement will facilitate collaboration with a national defense manufacturer.

Furthermore, the arrangement will establish a full-fledged Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility within the UAE, in addition to comprehensive after-sales support services for the aircraft.

After an extensive evaluation process, including rigorous testing in UAE operational contexts, the C-390 Millennium was chosen by the UAE Air Force and Air Defense due to its superior performance, dependability, and cost-effectiveness.

The C-390 Millennium is a cutting-edge military transport aircraft capable of executing various missions, including cargo and troop transport, airdrops, humanitarian efforts, medical evacuations, and operations from unpaved airstrips. It ensures effective coordination with allied forces as well.

This acquisition represents the largest international order for the C-390 Millennium by any nation and signifies the aircraft’s inaugural major foray into the Middle East market.

Dr. Nasser Humaid Al Nuaimi emphasized that this contract will significantly boost the UAE’s military readiness and enhance its capability to perform diverse missions.

Bosco da Costa Jr. expressed pride in this partnership, indicating that the aircraft will provide exceptional performance and enduring value, thereby reinforcing the strategic alliance between Embraer and the UAE.

Renowned for its innovative design and operational versatility, the C-390 Millennium stands out as one of the preeminent military airlift aircraft in contemporary defense endeavors.
