The UAE Ministry of Defence has reported that the country's air defence systems effectively thwarted multiple missile and drone attacks originating from Iran, amid rising tensions in the region. This defensive action ensured the security of civilians and vital infrastructure, averting any possible direct damage.
Officials clarified that the loud noises heard in cities like Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, and Al Ain were due to the activation of air defence systems rather than explosions impacting the ground. All threats detected were neutralised preemptively to prevent any harm.
Earlier communications advised residents through emergency SMS to take shelter and avoid areas near windows and doors. A subsequent nationwide alert confirmed that the situation was well-managed and safe, allowing residents to return to their usual routines.
The UAE Ministry of Interior and the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority encouraged the public to stay informed via official channels and to adhere to safety protocols. They reassured citizens that all defence mechanisms are fully functional, with ongoing surveillance to safeguard national airspace and ensure public safety during these tense times.
